Ottawa ankle rules are used to sort the ankle injuries to do or not do the X-rays in the patient in OPD.
To decide the need for an X-ray in ankle injury
- Pain around the malleolus
- Inability to take weight immediately after injury
- Inability to take four-step in Emergency/ OPD
- Bony tenderness at posterior edge or tip of medial or lateral malleolus
